Some explanations of the original version

  • Schrebergarten are a kind of allotments

    In Germany, the concept was promoted by Moritz Schreber; a doctor and pedagogue with purpose to make it possible for working people to relax from of stress of work and to improve food supply. Organised allotment gardens gained an increased popularity from 1864.


  • VFL stands for Verein für Leibesübungen Bochum 1848 Fuβballgemeinschaft e.V.. which is the name of the football club of the town. The club was founded in 1848.


  • «Glück auf» comes from the dialect of the Ruhrgebiet. The miners used used this phrase to wish each other Good Luck before going down to the mine.


  • The Düsseldorf,´s Königsallee, (Kö) is Germany´s most sophisticated mile and is considered one of the world's grand luxurious boulevards. Bochum's Königsallee was only made famous by this song.
